General Requirements

Strong subject knowledge is essential at York Region Tutoring. You should be able to teach high school level material with confidence and clarity. We are particularly looking for tutors who specialize in Math, Biology, Chemistry, or Physics. Candidates holding or actively pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education are given preference, though strong university students and degree holders with demonstrated expertise in any of the above subjects will also receive serious consideration.

Academic Requirements

To be competitive, you should have achieved above 90% in any subject you are applying to tutor, unless you are an Ontario Certified Teacher or are currently working toward OCT certification. Candidates who are selected for an interview will be asked to complete a written assessment for any STEM subjects they wish to teach.

Special Requirements

Applicants for English tutoring must be actively pursuing an undergraduate degree in English or an Intermediate/Senior OCT certification in the subject. For French tutoring, fluency in the language is required.
