Only booked for a one hour class with your tutor?

Our education facility doubles as a tutoring centre and library hub for students. Just park your bag at a desk and do your homework, use our computers, or write past tests compiled from York Region schools.

Room 1

Room 1 offers a quiet, day-lit space for tutoring.

  • Intuos tablets and a Lenovo Thinkpad: Available to our students and tutors at all tutoring stations.
  • Teaching & learning shouldn’t be hard, so we have put all resources including: Whiteboards, Textbooks and Supplementary Literature within arm’s reach.

York Region Tutoring spaces are designed to facilitate both privacy and community. Furnished with completely VOC-free painted walls, 9-foot acoustic wall dividers and spacious dual desks, students and tutors are provided with an environment conducive to focus. Each tutoring space is fitted with:

  • Two Drawing Tablets – Tablets are connected to a Lenovo i5 ThinkPad laptop.
  • Periodic Table and Whiteboard – Periodic tables make continued appearances in all 3 Sciences (Chemistry, Physics, Biology), and they are essential for tutors and students to reference simultaneously. Each tutoring space is complete with a magnetic, wall-mount whiteboard used to convey ideas that might otherwise interfere with the natural progression of a lesson.
  • Textbook Resources –Tutors and students have nearby access to the most recent editions of hardcopy textbooks from Nelson and McGraw-Hill (detailed near the bottom of this page). Online Textbooks from both publishers are also uploaded to each Lenovo computer and can be shared with students via Google Drive.

Room 3

All classrooms are unique in their respective designs and teaching modalities. We encourage our students to experience each classroom so that they can determine for themselves where they learn best.

  • Multiple Drawing Tablets – Tablets are connected to a Lenovo i5 ThinkPad laptop. The computer display is broadcast to students through a television interface or a secondary monitor.
  • Textbook Resources – Tutors and students have nearby access to the most recent editions of hardcopy textbooks from Nelson and McGraw-Hill (detailed near the bottom of this page). Online Textbooks from both publishers are also uploaded to each Lenovo computer and can be shared with students via Google Drive.

Room 4

Room 4 is dedicated to students who prefer extra quiet while engaging in tutoring lessons. It is fitted with only one desk and is acoustically isolated from the other tutoring rooms.

  • Two Drawing Tablets – Tablets are connected to a Lenovo i5 ThinkPad laptop.
  • Textbook Resources – Tutors and students have nearby access to the most recent editions of hardcopy textbooks from Nelson and McGraw-Hill (detailed near the bottom of this page). Online Textbooks from both publishers are also uploaded to each Lenovo computer and can be shared with students via Google Drive.

Your Resources

York Region tutors and students have access to all course textbooks. We supply the newest editions of Nelson and McGraw-Hill textbooks that are most commonly used by York Region schools. When appropriate, our tutors also use the provided Ontario Ministry Curriculum documents to help structure their classes, especially in cases where students are not given course syllabi.

For parents and students who decide to commence with lessons at York Region Tutoring, it is recommended that they select a 1 or 4 lesson package before making any longer-term commitments. It is imperative that there is a fit between student and tutor – while tutoring naturally prioritizes academics, the importance of a strong connection cannot be exaggerated in the pursuit of better grades and the enjoyment of learning.
