LEARN-A-COURSE

in 30 hours

Learn any course you want before you take it in school.

Public and Private school courses are designed to be 110 hours in length. However, each course’s time allotment is broken down into lesson content, laboratories, quizzes, tests and work periods. We have found that the entirety of a course’s content can be taught effectively in only 30 hours.

Learn-A-Course (LAC) Summer Camp Advancement Program Overview

Our Learn-A-Course (LAC) summer camp program is designed to give students a strong academic foundation in any Ontario Curriculum course through focused, one-on-one instruction.

Summer Camp Program Structure and Time Breakdown

Component Hours
Content Instruction 30.0 hours
Quizzes, Unit Tests, Final Exam* 11.5 hours
Total Program Duration 41.5 hours

* All assessments (quizzes, unit tests, and final exams) are created and reviewed by certified teachers from YRDSB and YCDSB, ensuring they meet current Ontario Curriculum standards.

Each LAC course is divided into 5 to 9 curriculum units, with 3 to 8 hours of instruction per unit, depending on the subject’s complexity. Every unit includes a quiz and concludes with a unit test. The course finishes with a comprehensive final exam designed to assess overall mastery of the material.

International Baccalaureate (IB) & Advanced Placement (AP) Courses

Many of our International Baccalaureate (IB) and Advanced Placement (AP) students also choose to enroll in the Learn-A-Course Summer Camp Program to strengthen their understanding and stay ahead in these academically rigorous tracks.

Due to the depth and complexity of IB (both MYP and DP levels) and AP courses, covering the entire curriculum may require more than the standard 30 hours of instruction. Our tutors are experienced in teaching these advanced programs and can adapt the pace and focus to match your needs.

We offer customized learning plans specifically designed for IB and AP students. If you’re pursuing one of these programs, please reach out to us directly so we can build a schedule and lesson plan that aligns with your curriculum, learning goals, and timeline.

Flexible Scheduling

Each LAC summer camp course is offered in a fully personalized 1-on-1 format, built around your summer or school-year schedule. Our standard format includes:

  • 15 sessions, each lasting 2 hours

  • Scheduled on the 15 days of your choice

  • Custom daily timetable prepared based on your selected course and availability

We’ll work with you to create a flexible learning plan that meets your goals—whether you’re looking to preview next semester’s content, solidify your understanding, or prepare for enrichment.

Stay ahead of the curve by learning any Ontario Curriculum course in a personalized, one-on-one format—before it’s even introduced in your regular classroom.

While standard public and private school courses span 110 hours, much of that time is spent on activities like labs, quizzes, tests, and in-class work periods. Based on our experience, the actual course material can be taught thoroughly and effectively in as little as 30 focused hours with our expert tutors.

Our LAC Summer Camp Advancement Program courses are designed for skill mastery, not for official credit. Since these courses do not count toward your Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD), your school will not be informed that you’ve already completed the material.

This gives you a clear academic advantage—you’ll enter class confident, capable, and significantly ahead of your peers.

Why the Learn-A-Course Program?

1.
Master the Material

For students struggling with a subject they’ll need to take next year, gaining a prior understanding of the material can boost confidence, (i) significantly improve grades, and (ii) build cognitive familiarity with the content.

2.
Ease the Transition into the Next Grade

The early weeks of the first semester can be challenging as students adjust to the demands of a rigorous course load. The Learn-A-Course program mirrors the structure of a typical high school course, incorporating both learning and assessments. This setup keeps students mentally engaged, helping to reduce setbacks during the transition period.

3.
Competitive Advantage

Our Learn-A-Course program gives students a academic advantage without universities recognizing it as a previously completed course, as it does not provide Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) credit.

Learn-A-Course Subjects

We offer instruction in a range of standard academic subjects, including those listed below. Additionally, we regularly provide tutoring for the pre-IB and IB curriculum. If you have any further inquiries, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us!
